Assistant Transport Planner

As an Assistant Transport Planner, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of transport planning inputs for a wide range of development projects, including new settlements, urban regeneration, residential, commercial, retail, logistics, energy and mixed-use schemes.

As a recent graduate or early career professional, you will be involved in day-to-day work on projects and will assist senior members of the team. Collaborating closely the colleagues, you will gain hands-on experience across all stages of the project lifecycle while building a solid foundation in technical and professional skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and other documentation to support a planning submission.

  • Contribute to feasibility assessments and access appraisals.

  • Prepare plans and diagrams to support planning submissions.

  • Collect, analyse and interpret transport and traffic data.

  • Conduct site visits and surveys as required.

  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary project teams.

  • Occasionally attend business development events representing the company.

Requirements

  • Elementary understanding of the planning system and transport-related matters, including Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and Environmental Statements.

  • Elementary knowledge of relevant cycling/walking design standards, highway standards and building design guidelines.

  • Elementary understanding of principles of transport planning.

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Enthusiasm for sustainable transport and urban mobility.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills with the ability to work within deadlines.

  • Interpersonal skills required to liaise effectively and professionally with the project team, stakeholders and contractors.

  • Adhering to all policies and procedures in the Company Handbook.

Desirable

  • Graduate membership of CIHT, TPS, or ICE.

  • Internship or placement experience in a transport planning environment.
